Cleveland Guardians star José Ramírez’s extension is now signed and done, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. Includes $106M in new money — $70M of which is deferred for 10 years — and turns the three years and $69M he had into seven years and $175M. @hgomez27 was on the news.

José Ramírez is signing a restructured 7-year, $175 million extension with the Guardians, per @hgomez27.
This adds four years and $106 million to his current deal, which will now keep him in Cleveland through the 2032 season.
Marcus Phillips is the type of arm that can really take off in Boston's PD system.
Basic Progression w/ Tennessee ('24 → '25):
⚾️ ERA: 4.95 → 3.90
⚾️ FIP: 4.85 → 4.08
⚾️ K%: 24% → 27%
⚾️ BB%: 16% → 10%
Linebacker frame with multiple high quality offspeed pitches that generated plenty of whiff in college. FF was ~96 mph last season and has the chance to tick up even more. He also utilizes a really intriguing splinker-ish shape (~92 mph) that could pair really well with the rest of his arsenal.
Sox will work to shore up both his mechanics (arm action inconsistency) and pitch shapes (both the FA-types and SL/SW). This is a very exciting raw talent with tons of developmental upside... really excited to watch an optimized Phillips return to the mound in '26.

Which player would you rather have on your baseball team (assuming no walks/HBP/etc, can only reach base on a basehit)?
Assume the rest of the team is a normal MLB team
glove slap: @KasperStats
The Chicago White Sox have had a really good offseason. Munetaka Murakami fell into their laps. Seranthony Domínguez is a proven late-inning reliever. Anthony Kay, Sean Newcomb, getting Luisangel Acuña in the Luis Robert trade. Not contenders yet, but it's the right direction.
David Ortiz breaking up Yu Darvish’s no-hitter with 2 outs in the top of the 9th. May 9th, 2014.
Ended up ruining Darvish’s perfect game in the 7th when he reached on an error. That was changed to a hit as well after the game.
Thank You, Yu Darvish:

Chen-Zhong-Ao Zhuang is a name to watch in 2026 Spring Training:
2024 season:
86 IP
2.09 ERA
2.96 FIP
25.2% K%
3.6% BB%
.201 BAA
0.88 WHIP
Zhuang has a decent fastball, but his secondaries, especially his mid-80's CH and a mid-70's CU/SL.
Hoby Milner is going to be a very nice fit with the Cubs.
His 53.8% ground ball rate ranked in the 91st percentile last season, and he’s stepping into an infield built to convert those into outs.
Plus, he’s a matchup nightmare for lefties, holding them to a .526 OPS in 2025.
The Cubs are signing right-handed reliever Trent Thornton, per @TreadHQ.
Thornton missed time with injury in 2025, but in 2024 he was excellent, posting a 3.61 ERA across 72.1 innings.
He’s got some filth, a 108 Stuff+ in 2024, including three different fastball looks.
