Acts of kindness that feel small to us have a big impact on others.
Research: kids and adults underestimate how tiny acts of generosity lift others' moods.
There's no easier way to make someone's day than to offer a compliment, give a little gift, or send a handwritten note.
Will they survive?!? Fourth graders got to test out their attribute growth with our survival game this week! Using limited materials, they had to innovate and create items they would need to survive on an island. Water filters were a fave! #ourBMSA
@MrNeibauer I use zones of regulation, which also uses colors to help categorize feelings. It does not put feelings on a scale though, which could carry a negative association. With zones, feelings are just feelings, neither good or bad, which can help kids not feel so burdened by them.
Innovative fun bubbling up today in our second hive this week! Students designed and constructed bubble wands from 3-D pens, and of course we had to test them out! 🫧 #ourBMSA
Say what?! Goldilocks was framed?! These Hive-Goers got to look closely at some incriminating evidence against another certain make-believe character today during our Maker Mystery Hive time! I guess the slipper is on the other foot now🕵 #ourBMSA
The use of talking pieces during collaboration is a game changer for your classroom dynamic. I’m so proud of how effectively third graders can exchange ideas in a respectful and productive way! #ourBMSA#OAISS#collaboration#myteacherheartisfull
True #STEM starts with the ability to:

Collaborate ☑️ and
Regulate ☑️
Fourth graders measured success with these attributes today during our marshmallow design challenge 🙌 #ourBMSA
Its interesting that in Finland, schools avg 5 hours per day and yet fit in 15 mins of recess every hour, but in the US we go 7 +hours and can’t fit in 10 mins total for recess.
Congratulations to Mahan for being the OSLN State Showcase Presentation Award Winner for the Akron hub and for also winning the student choice award for presentation! We are all so proud if you!!! #ourbmsa#oaiss
@MrNunesteach The expenditure of time, energy, and emotional burden on teachers/students is an exponential cost for an inaccurate and finite measure of what any child knows, or their potential. The obsessional investment in testing should instead be put towards the mental health of students.
