@PrairieCatboy Trump is unlikely to want to risk embarrassing himself in as like a manor again. it seems unlikely for him to invade anything.
i would even dare hope that this embarrassment will portend better behavior from the Americans in the future.
@FortySacks it always been dumb that we allowed a culture of shitting on French speakers to infiltrate English Canada.
here is hoping that this spells a reversal of that.
@PrairieCatboy its worth considering that trumps trying to play this off as a win to his base.
we would just invite the ire of the Americans if we called a spade a spade.
@The_Davos_Man if i had to guess, attacks like this may be done to pressure Ukraine to move its AAA defences away from more strategically important targets.
targets that the Russians cant hit reliably so they resort to terror bombing wherever Ukraine's defences are not instead.
@The_Davos_Man he can mobilize as much as he likes, i have a feeling that it will be useless if the convoys carrying those reinforcement's, and supplies cant reach the front without being reduced to scrap metal.
@Graham_Mark_E to my understanding one long standing difference between cdns and Americans is risk aversion, Canadians tend to be more culturally adverse to risk.
we also tend to be a relatively higher trust society, among other things.
@andrew_leach a humiliation Canada is clearly unwilling to surrender to him.
considering that i think the only way we see a renewal whilst trump is in office will be if congress and the senate enforce it, most likely after the midterms.
although i wouldn't hold my breath.
@andrew_leach if we accept his own arguments as his belief, trump doesn't believe that he's damaging the USA.
but even if he acknowledged the damage he was doing he wouldn't be able to reverse course and save face. unless he could enforce a humiliating concession onto Canada.
@Monarchist_Can@BillTheKid1603@Kuomintard this film was was set in 1917 and Canada didn't begin conscription until 1918,
if i recall we began conscription so late into the war that it was basically over by the time most of our conscripts were slated to arrive.
@NotWoofers well starmer wants to be rid of it, and trump clearly wants to tie his name to a sphere of American expansion.
and according to some of the rumors the British had to offer Mauritius money to take it from them.
assuming all of what i said is true it is possible.
@Tom_Antonov@KevinAndOD it's also an easy way for a nations military to convey competence and professionalism, and parades conducted with an appropriate level of theatre can aid recruitment.
@trademarkedash it is geography, the naming convention of UC/LC was based on the flow of the st Lawrence river, wich starts in the south west and flows north east.
Egypt has the same naming convention for its 2 halves because the nile flows south to north.
@BagelPolling this has been an issue for every developed economy, probably for as long as anyone can remember.
the Americans put considerable effort into attracting foreign talent, its one of the reasons why the states has become so wealthy.
