I mentioned this earlier…the opportunity to cash in on a Skubal-like talent who could spur a bidding war even as a rental doesn’t happen often. You almost have to do it…

But I agree…no reason they can’t try to do other things if they’ve somehow found their way back into the race.

It’s June 4. There will be a couple of deals early around MLB….but of course the Tigers aren’t selling yet. Hardly anyone is…

However…give it a month. The deadline is still two months off.

I know lots of folks despise Scott Harris and doubt his trade acumen. That’s fine. But he’s in the chair and he ain’t leavin’ by August. He’s what you got!

Whether you believe he can do it or not…if a true bidding war for Skubal erupts, he has to exploit it. Even if the Tigers are sorta/kinda in the wildcard hunt. These chances don’t come around every year.

If the market is softer than the talking heads believe….then you go back to the comp pick.

I’m not a business expert…but as someone who played a ton of golf at one point in my life, I was drop dead certain Topgolf was a fad that would die off. You go once…maybe twice….and you’re probably looking for other things. Plus serious golfers don’t go much.

Our heroes from Finland, Tampere Tigers, win and move to 2-1 in the Euro Confederation Baseball Cup qualifier in Hungary!

The Tigers won a close one…4-2…over the Bosotoni Thunder Wolves from Rumania. Emiliano Rivero went the distance striking out 13 of those Rumanian bastards!!

Awaiting on word of the Tigers next opponent.

Tigers fans of all stripes unite!!!

Update from the Euro Confederation Cup baseball qualifier being held in Hungary.

Unfortunately our heroes, the Tampere Tigers, took an 11-0 thrashing at the hands of the host team, the Jánossomorja Rascals (I badly want a Rascals jersey for my son…I’m getting the research department on it)

The Tigers then rebounded to put a similar shutout thumping on a club from Ukraine, Kyiv BC….10-0.

Next up for the Tigers….they will square off with a club from Romania…the Botosani Thunder Wolves.

JV gave up a single and a double to James Triantos…a probable big leaguer someday.

He gave up two singles to former big leaguer Scott Kingery.

Obviously others played bigger roles tonight but it was nice to see Torkelson with 2 hits and a walk…that’s multiple hits in 3 of his last 4

Given what we’ve seen all year…he doesn’t have to be a star…just be competent like last year. That would be a big plus.
