Devolution must mean restructuring government, not adding another layer. Yorkshire needs one elected regional body, not 4 mayors, clear responsibility and proper scrutiny — replacing duplication, not adding to it.

He's basically quoted @Yorkshire_Party !
Even the comparisons to Scotland's population & Wales' economy
BBC gives us a mention - and we continue to advocate for a Yorkshire Parliament
btw, Yorkshire has 5 mayors, half of 'Tees Valley' is in Yorkshire.

The PM believes Leeds should have a mass transit system of its own. It’s vital the @Yorkshire_Party holds him to these comments and ensure the @MayorOfWY follows through and delivers long needed public transport reform.
Taking power away from local councils and centralising it in mayoral hands is not devolution! Burnham worships at the altar of the mayoral system but he doesn't seem to support real devolution. @Yorkshire_Party

Changing Westminster’s voting system shouldn't be left to the politicians. An independent commission could get the public and experts together in one room to examine the evidence and build consensus for reform. Add your name today: https://t.co/5DedkvfZTF
This is NOT devolution
A council is more "local" than a mayor
(1 mayor covers 5 councils in West Yorkshire)
Yet mayors will overrule local democracy
We need powers to be taken DOWN from Westminster, not taken UP from councils

@IPPRNorth Real progress needs real regional power. Successful countries show the way — time for government to learn from them.
We need real devolution — the kind these successful countries deliver, through strong regional powers.

1/4 Letters to the editor – The Guardian newspaper on devolution. What we’re all saying — and what the Alliance for Yorkshire stands for — is simple: The English regions need real regional governance, with proper powers, fair funding and democratic accountability.
Happy Yorkshire Day!
Today we celebrate everything that makes Yorkshire unique – our history, our landscapes, our communities and the people who make this county such a remarkable place to live and work.
Data thats accurate to represent devolution.
All those bundling London in with England because they dislike the SNP, Plaid, didn't talk about this.
Now join the @Yorkshire_Party immediately so theres another blue line on this graph.

3️⃣ The Yorkshire Party says it’s time for genuine devolution — a Yorkshire Parliament with the powers and funding to decide our own future. Yorkshire’s people know what’s best for Yorkshire.
1️⃣ For 75 years, Westminster has promised to “level up” the North. From Macmillan’s industrial grants to Johnson’s Northern Powerhouse, every government has talked about fairness — yet Yorkshire still gets a fraction of the funding and power London takes for granted.
2️⃣ Billions have been spent through schemes controlled by Whitehall — the £4.8bn Levelling Up Fund, the £3.6bn Towns Fund — forcing councils to bid for crumbs while decisions stay in London. Central control has failed. The system is broken by design.
Head North, is a powerful reminder that Britain’s future depends on fairness, balance, and real devolution. They make a strong case that the North should no longer be treated as an afterthought, and that a more federal UK could help rebalance power, investment, and opportunity.
If Yorkshire were a country, it would be larger than several European nations
So, if Yorkshire fielded a national side made up exclusively of players born within the historic county boundaries, what might that team look like? What changes would you make? @Boro@Boropolis@LUFC
