5 tips I’d give a beginner starting out in AI and Automation:
1. Start Simple Before Going Advanced
Don’t jump straight into complex workflows. Begin with one or two repetitive tasks you do daily, like sending email follow-ups or moving data between apps. Automate those first. It builds confidence fast.
2. Map Out the Process First
Before touching any tool like Zapier, Make, or N8N, write out the steps of your workflow on paper, I use Miro. Clarity upfront saves you hours of fixing broken automations later.
3. Learn Basic Logic & Triggers
Automation is 80% logic. Learn what triggers, actions, filters, and conditions mean. Understanding these will make any automation tool feel less intimidating.
4. Always Add Error Handling
Things break. Apps change. Data fails. Add steps like notifications, error logs, or retries so you can fix issues quickly without the whole workflow collapsing.
5. Document everything.
