Island man, 33, Interested in some housing being built and a future for Guernsey that isn’t just feeding ourselves into the gaping maw of international finance.
@coldharbors It’s very irritating that the weird cultural hang up British elites have with eating horses means all citizens must forever be denied the delicious flavour of horse. A flavour so beloved by our ancestors that 30% of cave paintings are of horses specifically.
Why are Andrew Mountbatten’s daughters, who aren’t working royals and add nothing to nation’s public life other than wearing big hats at Ascot, being given free housing? They both have jobs and wealthy husbands too.
I suspect this is about to become a problem, and rightly so.
He might regret this agreement if the policies he suggests were put in place and the entirety of states works goes on strike.
No cesspits being emptied, no bins being collected etc etc. Essential workers aren’t just teachers and nurses.

The douzaine for NIMBYism strikes again
'We need housing but not the green fields, contaminated vineries, brownfield land, reclaimed land, etc etc etc."
It sounds like the GDA is treating them with the contempt they richly deserve.
I’ve got no problem with Katie Hopkins saying whatever she likes or people paying to hear it; I just don’t think she has much to say that’s particularly original or interesting.
#Guernsey’s housing policy for an island of 25sq miles
These types of homes for the non economically active paying less than average tax vs those for the workers - if they’re lucky enough to find one
there is unfortunately a very large proportion of people who believe that every summer during their childhood was even hotter than this and no facts or statistics will convince them otherwise
I couldn’t agree more with these points.
The average Guern earning a salary should not be forced to shoulder the entire social security burden but certain parties seem determined to employ whatever tactics necessary to ensure it remains that way.
Very disappointed to see Chamber trying to 'claim a win' they do not have - I for one, as Vice P of ESS, am committed to the necessary reforms to social security contributions, including a move to incorporating unearned income so that we spread the tax burden in a far fairer way
@jameswpen@GuyPlummer34449@YoungGuern Exactly we all know what not to do but no bright spark coming up with a viable alternative after how many years??
@DavidPiesing63 If the plus element is removed it becomes the same regressive tax the public and deputies rejected multiple times under Helyar’s disastrous tenure. We’re then back at square 1 vis a vis tax reform. It would be a very silly thing to do.
The reason Deputy Sloan has decided he cannot support GST+ is precisely the reason a majority of the public now quietly support it.
Opposition evaporated like a shallow puddle on a hot afternoon the day the + element was announced.
If P&R has any sense they'll push ahead.
Ok since all my emails last weekend were leaked, I thought I’d cut out the middleman and post my email to Deputy Niles this afternoon explaining why I cannot support the plus of the GST+ package and that it needs to change.
