I took note of this horse after the Supreme in 2024 when he finished 3rd to Slade Steel. He was a bit unlucky in running that day. This is FIREFOX who looked all over a chaser post race. A big strong horse with plenty of size and scope who I’ve been keeping an eye on ever since, and I’ve noticed that he has been improving steadily in recent runs as he continues to step up in trip to his optimum. His 3 runs this season have earned him RPR’s of I53, 159 and 163 which suggests that he is on an upward curve. His last time out run when upped in trip to 3m 1/2F in the Irish Gold Cup was a very encouraging run. He is by Walk In The Park the sire of last year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin and Grand National winner Nick Rockett. Looking at his dosage profile, he has a centre of distribution of -0.11 suggesting that there is plenty of stamina in his pedigree. He has Gold Cup and Grand National entries and looks just the type to fulfil his potential in the near future. On official ratings he would need to improve to figure in the Gold Cup but he is likely to be finishing strongly up the up hill if he takes his chance. If he gets around 11-0 or less in the National he would be of interest at his current price.

🔥 Gordon Elliott on FIREFOX, per @SportingLife:
"I think he could be very good this year.
"He's schooled well at home and all being well he'll start off at Down Royal over 2m3f. I'll be disappointed if he's not a top novice chaser."
