If they have such power in their own prayers to change my situation from bad to good, why didn’t they turn their own story too around? Abi dey no like good life?
My children’s favourite swallow is fufu.
Yesterday I decided to be a good mother and cooked soups in bulk for the week. Made Oha soup because they specifically requested it.
Tell me why these children ate like they just came back from a 3-day fasting and prayer.
Everybody had one big wrap of fufu, only my last daughter had TWO wraps like she pays rent in this house 😭
After eating, they started their usual anthem: "Mummy is the best in the world”
At this point, I already know this praise was because of the Oha soup, they love it so much.
Fast forward to this morning.. My last baby came to me looking like a small village headmistress with an urgent memo.
She said, “Mummy, I have a request.”
I said okay… talk to me.
This 6-year-old child said she wants to start taking fufu to school 😳
Before I could process it, her elder sister shouted:
“GOD FORBID!!!”
Her sister asked her, “You won’t be shy eating fufu in front of your classmates??”
She looked at her like she just said rubbish and replied:
“Who cares?”
My last baby now continued:
“What is their business? If anybody tries anything, I will report to my teacher.”
Ah.
I don’t know the 45-year-old woman disguising as a 6-year-old in my house 😭
Anyway, I granted her request.
As I’m typing this, she is dancing because she has secured her fufu lunch.
If you now see one small girl opening flask in school and bringing out fufu…
Just know she is my daughter 😌😂
This past Children's Day, I took my little cousin out for ice cream. We boarded a keke, and the ride was smooth until we got to our destination.
The spot where the driver stopped was very tight, with a drainage channel right in front. I got down first and moved behind the keke to wait because there wasn't much space.
As my cousin was getting down, the driver suddenly moved the keke. If I hadn't been paying attention and grabbed my cousin by the arm immediately, he could have fallen into the drainage or gotten seriously injured.
Omo, I was furious. I almost attacked the driver. It took people around to calm the situation. The driver got hit anyway, though not by me, a passerby landed a blow on him.
In the end, I just left him and went my way, but thinking about what could have happened still annoys me.
This reminds me of the time my Dad lost his job when I was in SS1 in a private school.
He has been so faithful in paying my school fees early right from JSS1 that the school authorities allowed me to finish the 3rd term without paying my school fees.
My mum then opted to send me to a public boarding school, which she single handedly sponsored.
Within the year things became better and together they even sent me to a better private school to finish my SS3.
No one should be with a spouse that isn’t supportive.
The problem is that people spend years preparing for a wedding they dream of and almost no time preparing for a marriage.
That's how you marry nonsense at 25 and still marry nonsense at 45
Everyone is quick to call a man a deadbeat when he doesn't provide money, but often stays silent when a woman earns well and contributes little to the household because "it's her money."
The uncomfortable truth is that responsibility shouldn't have a gender.
If you're capable of helping the family and choose not to, you're failing your role regardless of whether you're wearing trousers or a skirt.
