We’re pleased to announce that ballroom dancers from The Dance House Walnut Creek and The Dance House Napa Valley will perform at our 2026 Gift of Schooling Gala, Saturday, March 21, to be held at Blackhawk Museum in Danville. In keeping with our gala's Masquerade Affair theme, the dancers will perform to classic romance musical scores. Founded by award-winner dancer and choreographer Alex Blitstein, The Dance House Walnut Creek and The Dance House Napa Valley are non-competitive dance training studios for ages 18 months and up. Recitals and end of season showcases allow dancers to perform for family, friends, and neighbors at community events — and fundraising galas — displaying their talents and enthusiasm on the dance floor.

Rachel Axt, Miss California, was born and raised in Clovis, California, and is the first Miss California from the Central Valley in 30 years. A graduate of California State University, Fresno, Rachel is pursuing her master’s in education and childhood development. A dedicated elementary school resource specialist, Rachel helps her students become the most confident and assured versions of themselves. Her many years as a paraprofessional working with children on the autism spectrum inspired her platform of inclusion and acceptance. Her plan is to be an advocate for those who feel they cannot voice their worries – not just for her students, but for farmers like her grandparents, veterans like her grandfathers and uncle, nurses like her mother, and teachers like herself.

Yashvi Rateshwar received the Children Have the Power to Empower Award for the outstanding acts of goodness she continues to perform through Melodies4Memory, the initiative she established and lead dedicated to improving the emotional well-being and cognitive engagement of senior citizens through the universal language of music. The piano concerts she has organized – most often at the piano, herself – have profound impact on the lives of seniors, particularly those living with neurodegenerative diseases.

Her creative talents, leadership skills, and genuine compassion for others enrich the lives of seniors in hospitals, senior living, and memory care facilities by encouraging them to sing along, share memories, and engage socially. In doing so, Yashvi has helped bring joy, comfort, and meaningful human connection to more than 1,800 seniors in need of emotional and social support.
