They spread fake news and panic via X by very prominent US handles, saying the "Indian market crashed" showing a heatmap of all Indian stocks in red.

The Indian stock markets were not even open then. Today the Indian indices showed a big Indian finger to these small losers. Ruh roh.

@theskindoctor13 Credit cards attract 1 to 2 % mdr which I remember used to be passed down to consumers years ago However, businesses no longer levy that charges on customers. While I am against upi mdr, I don't think it will tickle down to consumers at this stage at least.

@tehseenp The MDR on UPI is still far lower than Visa/Mastercard CC charges. Merchants now absorb CC charges due to rising competition. So yes, I don't think UPI MDR will be passed on to consumers.
Having said that, this was a self-goal by the government with little to no upside.
