This also mean that the proton number increases by one and the nucleon number stays the same!
Beta minus decay occurs when there are TOO MANY neutrons! The decay means that one of the neutrons turn to a proton! Must learn this!
A nucleus will become unstable if they have:
Too many or too few neutrons
Too many protons and neutrons
Or it has to much energy
This is basic but you must remember:
Electron- Negative
Neutron- Neutral
Positron- Positive

Gamma:
Electromagnetic radiation
No mass, Very fast
Weakly ionising
Stopped by thick concrete or thick lead!
Beta:
An Electron
Light and fast
Quite ionising but not majorly
Stopped by thin metal!
Alpha:
Helium Nucleus
Slow and heavy
Strongly ionising
Stooped by paper and skin!
It is important to know all of the properties of Alpha, Beta and Gamma Radiation! But only the basic facts!
Both equations need to be known and practised!
If the volume is not constant then the equation would be-
Pressure X Volume divided by Temperature in kelvins= Constant
At constant volume- Pressure divided by Temperature (in Kelvins) = Constant volume! You need to know this so practise it!
this means that Temperature and Pressure are proportional!
When gas particles collide, outward pressure is created, If you heat a gas particles move faster so are more likely to collide...
To convert Celsius to Kelvins just add 237. E.g 10 Celsius = 283 Kelvins
The formula for Kinetic Energy is-
Kinetic Energy=1/2 x Mass x Velocity*2
Therefore meaning that as a gas is heated ump the average speed of the particles increase!
The temperature of a gas (in kelvins) is proportional to the average kinetic energy of its particles...
0 Kelvin is the equivalent to -273 degrees Celsius! Nothing can be colder then 0 Kelvin!
