82 years ago today, D-Day took place. At 0015 hrs, our antecedent regiment, the 2nd Ox and Bucks, carried out the first action of the invasion. In this 1986 recording, Major John Howard recounts the glider assault on Pegasus Bridge, Codenamed OPERATION DEADSTICK.

New figures show Reform raked in £9m in 3 months, with Farage still in the hotseat for his £5m "gift" from billionaire Chris Harborne.
£4m came from billionaire Ben Delo, who was convicted for facilitating money laundering in the US, but pardoned by Trump.

One of the heroes of D-Day has passed away.
Bill Redston, a Royal Navy veteran who helped liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny, has died peacefully at the age of 101.
At just 18 years old, he answered his country’s call, serving on dangerous missions to occupied France before playing his part in the Normandy invasion, escorting vital supply ships to Utah Beach.
He leaves behind three children, two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Sadly, we are now witnessing the passing of the last of the Greatest Generation.
The men and women who fought for our freedom, endured war, sacrificed so much, and then quietly rebuilt the world afterwards are leaving us one by one.
In our lifetimes, we will say goodbye to all of them.
That is quite something to think about.
We owe them far more than we can ever repay and we must never forget the sacrifices they gave so we could live in a free world.
Rest in peace, Bill Redston, and thank you for everything. 🇬🇧❤️🙏🕊️

As we approach the anniversary of D-Day, we remember those who served — including D-Day veteran Norrie Bartlett.
Serving as a gunner in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, Norrie witnessed two defining moments in history: the D-Day landings in Normandy and the Japanese surrender that marked the end of the war.
Today, we pay tribute to Norrie and all those who served during WW2. Lest we forget.🌺

If Keir Starmer had said before the election that he would remove the winter fuel allowance from millions of pensioners, add inheritance to family farms and family businesses, council tax & energy price increases, raise university tuition fees, plaster mass-scale solar panels and AI data centres on thousands of acres of prime farmland despite huge local community objections, spaff £22bn of taxpayers’ money on carbon capture machines, give £3bn a year of taxpayers’ money to Ukraine, try and ram through government controlled digital ID, betray WASPI women, hang out with BlackRock, pledge a 20% cut in meat & dairy and get exposed for receiving over £100,000 worth of freebies - he almost certainly wouldn’t have won. He duped the electorate. An utterly shameless display of snake oil political salesmanship. And still he lectures all of us in that gratingly sanctimonious manner of his like we are all somehow the problem here.
9 years ago today, @roylarner41, without any consideration for his own safety, single handedly took on 3 armed terrorists at #BoroughMarket saving countless lives.
He never received any medals and is yet to receive any compensation for his injuries. Shameful.

Robert Gros made £27m selling useless gowns via the VIP PPE Lane, of course he never paid back a penny, he bought 2 mansions instead.
RT and see if we can make him as famous as Michelle Mone.
Remembering all those who lost their lives, 2nd June 1994; A Royal Air Force Boeing Chinook HC2 helicopter (ZD576) crashed on the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland, in thick fog while en route from RAF Aldergrove in Northern Ireland to Fort George near Inverness.
All 29 people on board were killed: the four RAF crew members and 25 passengers who were senior Northern Ireland security and intelligence officers.
The passengers included high-ranking officers and experts from the Security Service (MI5 / Crown Service), the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC Special Branch), the British Army (including Intelligence Corps), and civil servants from the Northern Ireland Office. This was one of the worst peacetime losses of life in RAF history and devastated the UK’s Northern Ireland intelligence community during The Troubles.
The incident was initially blamed on pilot error before this was overturned in 2011. Families of the victims are calling for a judge-led public inquiry into the disaster and for all the files – some of which have been sealed for 100 years – to be released.
Lest we forget.
