📸 This new photograph of The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen was taken last week in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle to mark His Royal Highness’s 99th birthday tomorrow.
This portrait of The Queen wearing her State dress and robe, and standing in the Abbey, is by Ralph Heimans.
It was commissioned to mark Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee and shows her standing on the Cosmati Pavement - the place where she was crowned at 12:34pm on 2 June 1953.
Whilst an occasion for celebration, The Queen’s Coronation was a solemn, religious ceremony @wabbey that lasted almost three hours.
The service has remained essentially the same for over 1,000 years.
