🏈Cowboys beat Eastern New Mexico to open the 2025 season - First win over the Greyhounds since September 7, 2013!

NM Highlands started its ‘25 campaign off with a big win last night over Eastern NM 34-28.

While the Cowboys found themselves in a defensive battle in the 1st half, Sr WR Mike Jones provided the spark the offense needed with a 57 yd TD reception with 12 seconds remaining in the 1st half.

The Cowboys’ offense kept the momentum going after halftime, scoring 4 TDs in the 2nd half, including a 53 yard reception by Mike Jones for his 2nd TD of the day.

True Freshman RB Jeffery Jones scored the Cowboys other three TDs, on runs of 48, 1, & 61 yards, as he racked up an impressive 227 rushing yards for the day.

Highlands backfield is looking dangerous with the three headed monster of:
🏈 Fr. Jeffery Jones, 19 carries for 227 yds and 3 TDs;
🏈 R-So Mason Peterson, 11 carries for 73 yds; &
🏈 Reigning RMAC Freshman Offensive POY Tevita Valeti, 10 carries for 23 yds.

The Cowboys also benefited from a poised and mature leader at QB in Sr Ike Udengwu III, who passed for 142 yds & 2 TDs.

Jr LB Damon Mayberry had a day for Highlands, as led the defense with 8 tackles (7 solo and 1 assisted).
