@aftertheb1@vox_vis@Lillianofthvale Oh and actually I find this especially strange when you probably believe in something like ghosts, or energy, the soul. BECAUSE of your lived experience, yet when it comes to something like gender, suddenly everyone must be placed in two boxes and cannot switch LOL
@aftertheb1@vox_vis@Lillianofthvale As a continuation of my last comment, critical thinking involves truly attempting to falsify what you think is true! That's why I love this new scientific research on dark energy, and it's why I also find social concepts of gender, people just pretend it's binary which is weird
@aftertheb1@vox_vis@Lillianofthvale *Why I find gender interesting* Sorry! Anyway, there are many other examples of social assumptions like stereotypes that people make in an attempt to categorise, falsify, root in fact the personalities of others. But sometimes you just have to accept not everything is this way.
@aftertheb1@vox_vis@Lillianofthvale I find it so weird so many people truly seem to have a complete conviction that their opinion of a fluid, largely undefined social concept is infallible fact. I love science, I love how they are slowly coming to the realisation that dark energy just.... Doesn't exist
@Piet67267007@WeichAndre@GBC_Press Iran gains essentially 0 leverage from having nukes, what they HAVE gained leverage from, is that they DO have control over this straight and even the US whose presence previously gated this form of leverage; CANNOT stop them, This is so much more powerful than nukes.
@Piet67267007@WeichAndre@GBC_Press Look, every country can HAVE nukes, but no country would USE nukes. The US was/is in power because they had incredible industrial power, and were able to allow for the global trade of a resource (oil) that is essential for EVERY country, they lose that ability, they lose.
@naoardyaho17821@GBC_Press HAHAHAHHA they can't invade on land in Iran without MANY deaths, have tried ballistic missiles, too expensive, don't have enough without appearing very obviously weak or killing lots of civilians which does the same thing. They can nuke but that's WWIII off-rip
@Key_Junk@soulkibble@AngryJoeShow And holy shit if Taiwan is not independent, if literally ANYONE has control over Taiwan, that country essentially will control the next 100 years or so of human technology. Like, the US CANNOT let that slide, and their leverage WAS cutting China's oil but uhhh not anymore
@Key_Junk@soulkibble@AngryJoeShow Cont. (4) It seems to me, with the failure of the US to guarantee the security in the global trade of oil, it's inability to produce it, China's ambition to claim Taiwan with the only just now fully realised ability to do so... I am almost certain history will repeat itself soon.
@Key_Junk@soulkibble@AngryJoeShow Cont. (3) As someone who has listened attentively, and looked into the eyes of a holocaust survivor recounting their experiences... I do genuinely fear for my life; The war in Iran rages on with a winner already decided, Trump is baselessly accusing the two other world powers...
@Key_Junk@soulkibble@AngryJoeShow Cont. (2) Not only did Hitler succeed in allowing for his ideology to persist, but also his, at the time unfathomable rise to power that proves social division is a provable means to gain massive influence over the government itself. As this issue becomes more distant... Well...
@Key_Junk@soulkibble@AngryJoeShow Cont. A police force that was obedient of the baseless accusations placed on all minorities, not just the Jewish as an outlet for said despair; With the public being largely in support of the increasingly-authoritarian government until the war. History is definitively cyclical
@Key_Junk@soulkibble@AngryJoeShow I understand personal attacks don't have any meaningful reach, but they do have a point. Hitler was only able hijack a democratic government by slowly dividing the German population, letting them feast on the despair of their losses in WWI and a slow transition into...
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow Cont. (2) In the same way, you can imagine a social concept attempting to create an in-traversable barrier between two halves of the population would; Even if given credence to by "fact" inevitably fail for at least SOME people. You may find that uncomfortable, but...
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow Cont. However, stereotypes do not aim to wholly describe a large group of people. This is a good example because you have to be part of a stereotype, but I would most likely find only kernels of truth if I were to talk to you with this in mind as fact...
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow When the terms "woman" and "man" are fundamentally tied to an abstract, constantly changing social concept; It is most definitely possible. It's kind of like stereotypes, yes it is something that has arisen from observation, fact you could say in some cases...
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow It seems quite obvious to me, that the motivation for serious crime dissipates when everyone's needs are largely met, that is why you see nordic countries employ prisons that seem luxurious... It works because many large systemic issues that exist in the US, do not there
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow I am suggesting that most crimes are indicative of systemic issues, I do not aim to harm others, yet I know having any amount of a particular drug IS illegal, and I could be imprisoned for it. From this spawns organised crime that does commit more intentional and worse crime
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow Hmmmmmm... I work in pharmacology so I'm inclined to agree with this only under the circumstance of not providing both informative care, and ease of access to clean equipment. I have seen many deaths that could have been easily prevented...
@PatOBrienMSG@AngryJoeShow Cont. (2) And at that point you have to re-consider the system that only extends the reach of said powerful people, and look for a better option; For me that is one that also intends to dissolve silly social issues of which I'm unwillingly a part of
