As reported by Imphal Times today, the NSCN-IM is allegedly collecting over Rs. 82 lakh per annum from oil tankers plying on NH-37 alone.

Annual levy: Rs. 8,000 per six-wheeler and Rs. 15,000 per ten-wheeler and bullet tanker.
Per-trip collection: According to drivers, Rs. 4,520 is collected per round trip, including Rs. 20 at the Keithelmanbi police outpost and Rs. 500 and Rs. 3,500 allegedly paid to NSCN-IM cadres at Awangkhul and Nungba, respectively.

With more than 500 tankers and 200 bullet tankers operating on this route, the total annual collection is estimated to exceed Rs. 82 lakh. The report further notes that such collections allegedly continue even in the presence of security forces, raising the question of whether the Government of India has authorized the NSCN-IM to exercise taxation powers akin to a parallel government.

Will the so-called Meitei Thibaikon Minai continue to deny and cover up for the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM? Will the Meitei-led Manipur Government continue to uphold silence as the best policy even after this report?

It is reported that cadres of the Tangkhul secessionist narco-terrorist group NSCN-IM, who were en route to attack innocent Kuki-Zo civilians, met with an accident today near Sihai village.

It is deeply concerning that the peace-loving village of Taphou was attacked by the Tangkhul secessionist narco-terrorist NSCN-IM in the early hours of the morning and the attack is still ongoing.

Shockingly, there has been no condemnation nor any security deployment by the Chief Minister of Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh @YKhemchandSingh, or his Meitei government.

The official handle of the Manipur Police @manipur_police on X, which is otherwise prompt in targeting the Kuki-Zo community, also remains conspicuously silent on this incident.

One is compelled to ask what has happened to Meitei Home Minister Shri Govindas Konthoujam @KonthoujamG.

Are the innocent and peace-loving Kuki-Zo paying the price of the so-called free movement?

In short, more than 250 Kukis lost their lives following the spread of this false allegation.

Despite these false allegations, no arrests have been made. This has raised serious concerns among many about accountability, equal enforcement of the law, and public trust in the justice system in Manipur.
