Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has commissioned five newly appointed High Commissioners and Ambassadors Designate to represent Ghana in Sierra Leone, Norway, Kuwait, Nigeria and Niger.

The Vice President administered the Oath of Office, Allegiance and Secrecy to the envoys and charged them to advance Ghana’s diplomatic, economic and national interests while strengthening engagement with Ghanaians abroad.

She assured the envoys of government’s support and urged them to remain guided by the performance standards and KPIs introduced by President John Dramani Mahama.

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang also encouraged them to approach their assignments with professionalism, integrity and a clear sense of purpose, as they work to deepen Ghana’s international partnerships and create meaningful opportunities for the Ghanaian people.

Below is the law on legal vacations. It does not say that courts are to shut down. As you may see from Rule 4 below, the legal vacation schedule is, by Rule 1(1), subject to the CJ’s decision to give warrants to a judge to work during the vacation.

Now, those seeking to rely on an alleged convention, there are two things we know about what may constitute a convention:

1. The existence of a convention is a question of fact which must be established by evidence of two things, namely, (a) consistent practice, AND (b) opinion juris - that is, the uniform opinion that the practice is binding as law rather than as a preference or convenience.

The practice, as we know it, doesn’t support the existence of such an alleged convention. CJs have consistently, throughout the ages, given vacation warrants to judges who have conducted trials.

2. An alleged convention cannot operate to override an express provision of law. The express provision of law on the matter is Order 79 of CI 47. No law or practice gives a lawyer or our associations the power to determine whether court proceedings should go on during a legal vacation.

Today, I went to visit some wetlands and also looked at million dollar buildings in waterways.

What I found amazing is how Electricity of Ghana and Ghana water; agencies with state participation, all supply those areas. ECG poles and metres were everywhere.

How can the Government participate in illegality and turn around to demolish those homes?

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, alongside His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, and Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Transport, Hon. Amadou Konde, attended a Requiem Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica in Kumasi to honor the late Mrs. Grace Poku, beloved wife of the late Francis Kojo Poku of Poku Transport. The Minister extended heartfelt condolences, praying for the eternal repose of her soul and for strength and comfort for her grieving family.

Following the solemn service, Honorable Haruna Iddrisu joined the management of Wisconsin International University College to commission a new hostel facility. He underscored the critical role of private institutions, stating: "Private tertiary institutions continue to play a vital role in expanding access to higher education, promoting innovation, and creating opportunities for young people across Ghana. Wisconsin International University College remains an important partner in this national effort."

Reaffirming the government's dedication to fostering an enabling environment for private sector participation, the Minister highlighted recent legislative progress. Through the amendment of Part I of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023) via Act 1165 of 2026, private universities now secure representation on the governing board of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). This reform, he concluded, will drive greater collaboration and inclusiveness in shaping the future of higher education across Ghana.

The amount of rainfall recorded today is among the highest experienced in several years. Preliminary data indicates that approximately 140 millimetres of rain fell on Accra. By comparison, the highest single-day rainfall recorded last year was about 56 millimetres.

That aspect of the problem is beyond our control because it is driven by changing climatic conditions. There is the issue of human behaviour.

Whenever government begins removing structures built in waterways, some people accuse us of being inhumane. Yet when disasters such as today's flooding occur, the consequences affect everyone. The irresponsible actions of a few individuals end up putting entire communities at risk.

Court Update.

The Investigator in the case of Republic v Kwabena Adu Boahene & Another (Cybersecurity software scandal case) is currently making explosive revelations about how the GHc49.1 million meant for the purchase of a cyber defense system for the National Signals Bureau was allegedly stolen by the accused persons.

Cross-Examination for the 2nd Prosecution Witness in the case of Republic v Gifty Oware Mensah (National Service Case) began and ended today. The session lasted approximately an hour.
The Court will now hear the evidence of the 3rd Prosecution Witness beginning tomorrow, June 23, after which the 4th Prosecution Witness who will be the State’s last Witness will mount the box to close the State’s case.

Seven employees of the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) have been interdicted after a special audit by the Ghana Audit Service uncovered GH¢4,373,355.04 allegedly unaccounted for in the operations of the CPC Consumer Cooperative Shop.

Those affected include union chairpersons, accounts officers, managers, and the shopkeeper all linked to the discrepancies identified during the audit which triggered administrative action and further investigations into the missing funds at the company level ongoing.
