Being exposed to different disciplines is so important if one wants to be a well rounded leader, especially in the engineering space. I can definitely see myself growing more into the engineering management type role
I think there's always something to learn, even if you're not doing any classroom/online based learning. Especially in tech where you're often picking up on things that might be unfamiliar
It's going to be quite an exciting, yet nervy week. I'll be taking the AWS solution architect associate exam and I make my debut as a line manager. Wish me luck!
Flexible working is the best option and I'm very glad we have this in place. The office is still a good space to collaborate but it's absolutely not necessary to mandate coming into the office on certain times of the week.
I have strong opinions regarding remote working and there were a lot of thoughts I had around this BBC article which mentions bosses think workers are NOT as productive at home at Microsoft: https://t.co/E4mnNMfQ6X
you're worried about velocity and work not being delivered on time. But based on my own experiences, we operate very flexibly and we've consistently delivered on results and managers/bosses are very confident with our current working arrangements
Really good thread on how Uber was hacked, which granted the hacker pretty much full access to their internal infrastructure. They used an MITM phishing attack and I suspect they used something like this to do it: https://t.co/rnNuxHchj8
The Uber hack is quite severe and wide ranging. Wishing their blue teams the best of luck and love during this understandably difficult period. Some thoughts & observations based on what we've seen so far ๐ 1/N
#fitdevs might be one of the best things I've joined, combining my passion for both software and fitness. I'm hoping to contribute to it more over the next few months and make my actual dedicated tech account more active.
@TommiEng @awscloud@Azure I'm going to be biased and say AWS as that's the cloud that I'm working with extensively and also they still continue to dominate the cloud space. Having said that, all the major cloud providers have degrees of overlap so whatever you learn in one cloud can be used in another
@KatyCodesStuff Especially if you don't get to see them often. I think I've only seen some of the people in my team 4 or 5 times since the pandemic started? Definitely nice to change the scenery every now and then
