Last Friday in the Upper East, on the Resetting Ghana tour, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama spoke directly to the things we work on every day at the NHIA, and commended the Authority for the work we are doing.

Safer pregnancies through antenatal care and newborn checks under Free Primary Health Care. A reviewed tariff that fully covers the cost of treatment, which means no NHIS member should be charged an illegal co-payment at any facility. And the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, standing between families and the ruin that serious illness once guaranteed.

That commendation belongs to the hardworking staff of this Authority. This is what the journey to Universal Health Coverage sounds like. 🇬🇭

Ghana and the Netherlands have signed a special Letter of Intent to jointly combat illicit drugs and drug markets.

Minister of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, D.M. Van Weel and I signed the agreement during the Ministers official visit to Ghana.

Building on the Accra Call to Action, our two countries hope to offer global leadership on this crucial matter which is destroying young lives, undermining public health, damaging the rule of law and terribly affecting human rights.

We are confident that genuine and reliable international collaboration will eliminate drug markets flooding our countries with cocaine, synthetics and criminal money.

I thank my good friend for his memorable visit to Ghana.

Day 2 of the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Health in Accra.

I joined His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, African Heads of State, Ministers of Health and health leaders from across the continent for the discussion that determines whether every other commitment holds, sustainable health financing.

Ending AIDS by 2030. Eliminating preventable maternal deaths. Universal Health Coverage. None of it endures on external goodwill. It endures on domestic resources, deliberately mobilised and protected.

Ghana brings real work to this table: the uncapping of the National Health Insurance Levy, the Free Primary Health Care Programme, and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

Yesterday, on behalf of the Minister of Health, @BampoeVictor had the privilege of joining President John Dramani Mahama to receive two of global health's most respected voices, @Winnie_Byanyima , Executive Director of UNAIDS, and @JoyPhumaphi_, Executive Secretary of ALMA.

Today, NHIA answered the President's call.
From our head office to every regional, district, and CPC office across the country, our staff put down their pens, picked up brooms and cutlasses, and cleaned.

Because a healthier Ghana doesn't begin in a hospital. It begins in a clean environment, the first line of defence against the diseases we spend so much treating.

The highlight? A gentleman walking by, not an NHIA staff member, stopped, picked up a cutlass, and joined us.
That's the Ghana we're building. 🇬🇭🧹

When we launched NHIS Campus Connect, the plan was simple: take the NHIS to young people, where they already are.

But you never really know how something lands until the people it was built for tell you themselves.

Listening to these students talk about their own experience with Campus Connect, in their own words, has taught me more than any report could.

A few weeks ago, on an X Space with @gyaigyimii and @GeorgeAnagli, we talked about what NHIA is doing for young people.

I spoke about our digital interventions. About NHIS Campus Connect. And about something happening quietly inside our own walls, a Youth Mentorship and Leadership Bootcamp for every staff member 35 and below.

Here's the truth: you cannot build a youth-focused institution while overlooking the young people already inside it.

Between May and June, we invested in them. Their growth is the NHIA's today and future. 🇬🇭

Yesterday, on behalf of the Minister of Health, @KMAkandoh, I had the privilege of joining His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to receive two of global health's most respected voices, @Winnie_Byanyima , Executive Director of UNAIDS, and @JoyPhumaphi_, Executive Secretary of ALMA.

At the heart of the conversation: the Accra Reset, the President's vision for an Africa that produces its own vaccines, builds resilient health systems, and moves beyond aid toward true self-reliance.

We also shared Ghana's progress on Free Primary Health Care, now giving every Ghanaian access to free basic care at CHPS compounds and polyclinics. No insurance card required.
