அரசியலமைப்புச் சட்டத்தின் வழியாக எளியவர்களுக்கும் அதிகாரம் வழங்கி, எல்லோருக்கும் சட்ட உரிமைகள் கிடைக்க அடித்தளம் அமைத்தவர், நம் கொள்கைத் தலைவர் புரட்சியாளர் அண்ணல் அம்பேத்கர் அவர்கள். அவரது நினைவுநாளை முன்னிட்டு, நமது அலுவலகத்தில் அவரது திருவுருவப் படத்திற்கு மலர்தூவி மரியாதை செலுத்தினேன்.

சமூக நீதி, சமத்துவம், சகோதரத்துவம், மதச்சார்பின்மையைப் பேணிப் பாதுகாக்க உறுதியேற்போம்.

சென்னை உள்பட தமிழ்நாட்டின் பல பகுதிகளில் தொடர்ந்து பெய்து வரும் மழையால் மக்களின் இயல்பு வாழ்க்கை பெரிதும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. வடிகால் வசதிகள் முறையாகவும் முழுமையாகவும் செய்து முடிக்கப்படாததே மக்களின் இந்தத் துயரத்திற்குக் காரணம். பொதுமக்கள் தங்கள் பாதுகாப்பைக் கவனத்தில் கொண்டு எச்சரிக்கையோடு இருக்க வேண்டும் எனக் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.

மழையால் பாதிப்பிற்கு உள்ளாகும் மக்களுக்குத் தேவையான உதவிகளைப் பாதுகாப்போடு செய்திட வேண்டும் என்று கழகத் தோழர்களைக் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.

மழைநீர் வடிகால் வசதியை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக நிதி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்தும், நான்கரை ஆண்டுக்கால ஆட்சியில் பணிகள் முடிக்கப்படவில்லை. மக்கள் மீது சிறிதேனும் அக்கறையிருந்திருந்தால் கொஞ்சமாகப் பெய்த மழைக்கே இவ்வளவு தண்ணீர் தேங்கியிருக்காது. மீதமுள்ள பருவமழைக் காலத்திலாவது மக்கள் சிரமத்திற்கு உள்ளாகாத வகையிலும், அவர்களின் இயல்பு வாழ்க்கை பாதிக்கப்படாத வகையிலும் மழைநீர் வெளியேறும் வகையில் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று தமிழ்நாடு அரசை வலியுறுத்துகிறேன்.

சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம், திருப்பத்தூர் - பிள்ளையார்பட்டி சாலையில் அரசுப் பேருந்துகள் இரண்டு, நேருக்கு நேர் மோதியதில் ஏற்பட்ட விபத்தில் 10க்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் உயிரிழந்த செய்தி, மிகுந்த மன வேதனையை அளிக்கிறது. உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் குடும்பத்தினருக்கு ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கலைத் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன்.

விபத்தில் படுகாயம் அடைந்து மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருபவர்கள் பூரணமாகக் குணமடையும் வகையில், தேவையான அனைத்து மருத்துவ வசதிகளையும் ஏற்படுத்தி, உயர்தரமான சிகிச்சை அளிக்க வேண்டும் என்று தமிழக அரசை வலியுறுத்துகிறேன்.

A few thoughts on #Mask:

There’s a line in Mask towards the end: ‘Nallavanga kadhai bore adikkum.' Perhaps that’s why this film’s primary characters seem like kettavanga. And yet, if you look closely—especially at the central duo, Kavin’s Velu and Andrea’s Bhoomi—you’ll find slivers of goodness. Velu puts it best: ‘Naan kettavan dhaan, aana echchai illa.’ Velu may be money-minded, but he has ethical lines he won’t cross.

But moral lines, he doesn't quite care about too much. And that's why Mask doesn't expect you to worry about him. It isn’t the kind of film you watch in support of him... or for that matter, anyone else. (This is why, when the film suddenly tries to create obvious sentiment through a flashback, I wasn't sure about the choice at all.) This is a lawless, immoral landscape we’re meant to observe from above.

The film reminds us that even regular people, when given the opportunity, can go berserk… showing that the line between a criminal and a dutiful citizen isn’t as big as we like to imagine. I do find these films important for this reason. These are stories that stretch our definitions of heroism and villainy, of morals and ethics.

One of my favourite stretches has Velu and his paramour getting caught by a man who, it turns out, is the really dangerous one in the whole equation. I enjoyed how writer-director Vikarnan ties all these threads to the heist idea, how he slowly reveals the motivations of different connected characters… and how, eventually, he chooses an underdog to show his loyalty to, and turns that person's anonymity into strength.

Does it all come together to form an unforgettable experience? Maybe not, but that’s quite all right. It’s a first film; it's a bright enough beginning from a writer–filmmaker who doesn’t seem chained to traditional ideas of structure or heroism. And for these reasons... and a menacing Andrea performance... I’d gladly recommend Mask.

நம் கொள்கைத் தலைவர் அண்ணல் அம்பேத்கர் தலைமையிலான குழு, உலகத்திலேயே மிகச் சிறந்த அரசியலமைப்புச் சட்டத்தை இயற்றி நமக்கு அளித்துள்ளது. இதில் இறையாண்மை, சமத்துவம், சகோதரத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றிற்கு முக்கியத்துவம் அளித்துள்ளது. பல்வேறு மொழி, இனம், கலாசாரங்களுக்கு ஒத்த மதிப்பு அளித்து, மதச்சார்பின்மை காத்துள்ளது. பூரண ஜனநாயகத்துடன் வேற்றுமையில் ஒற்றுமை காண வழி வகை செய்துள்ளது. அண்ணலின் அரசியலமைப்புச் சட்டத்தை நாம் ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட தினத்தை இந்திய அரசியல் சாசன தினமாகக் கொண்டாடுகிறோம். இந்த நாளில், இந்திய அரசியலமைப்பின் மாண்பையும் அது நமக்கு வழங்கியுள்ள அடிப்படை உரிமைகளையும் காக்க உறுதியேற்போம்!
