Palestinian designer Yasmeen Mjalli reveals she was on the brink of closing her fashion brand, Nöl Collective, after Israeli customs destroyed one of their fabric shipments — until Olivia Rodrigo commissioned a dress to inaugurate her Daisy Chains festival.
“I was genuinely like, maybe we should stop, maybe this is our last effort. I was just so tired. [But Rodrigo’s commission] was like divine intervention. Obstacles are always going to be there, but if you can adapt you will be rewarded. I rise and I rise and I rise.”

"why do i even need to know how to read?" the animals in animal farm do not know the seven commandments have been changed because they can't read. the animals do not have the ability to question even if they suspect something is off because they can't read. pick up a book.
I’m a pale-skinned Arab, and when I did a DNA test, it came back 70% Middle Eastern and 30% North African, with zero European DNA. It drives me crazy how people falsely claim that light-skinned Arabs are white just because they have pale skin. It just shows how ignorant people are about actual genetics.
Conflating a pale complexion with European whiteness is a massive Eurocentric blind spot that completely ignores the natural range of skin tones that have existed across the MENA region for thousands of years. Colorism and the fetishization of lighter skin definitely exist within our communities, but that doesn’t make light-skinned Arabs European. A pale complexion does not automatically equal European whiteness.
