National Dialogue enters it's next phase of citizen-led coordination, engaging citizens through sectors, and stakeholders, following the Strategic Planning Workshop held from 6–8 March 2026 and the Steering Committee meeting held on 9 April 2026.

Freedom was never free, and the responsibility to protect it belongs to all of us.
This #HumanRightsDay, we honour the sacrifices that shaped our democracy and recommit to building a South Africa rooted in dignity, equality, and justice.
Through the National Dialogue, every voice matters. Every story counts. Every contribution shapes our collective future.
🗣️ Be part of the conversation.
✊🏾 Be part of the change.

Four key structures. One coordinated process.
• The Inter-Ministerial Committee enables rapid response within government
• The Steering Committee leads and oversees the National Dialogue project
• The Secretariat (hosted at NEDLAC) coordinates implementation and communications
• The Eminent Persons Group acts as public guarantors of credibility, inclusivity, and ethical conduct
Clear roles prevent confusion.

As the induction phase concludes, the National Dialogue moves into sustained implementation.
Expect communication that prioritises clarity, verified information, and real milestones over commentary.
This work is deliberate by design.
#NationalDialogueZA
For the National Dialogue to hold, leadership and guardianship must work together.
The Steering Committee leads the project, the Secretariat coordinates implementation, government enables rapid response, and the Eminent Persons Group safeguards credibility and ethical integrity.
Clear roles protect the process.

Day Two of the Steering Committee induction.
The work continues with a focus on consolidating roles, strengthening coordination with the Secretariat, and confirming lines of accountability.
Steady progress matters more than speed.
#NationalDialogueZA
Day 1 offered critical inputs, key reflections and handover reports between the structures.
We were reminded about the intention behind the structures, how they are intended to work together and what is expected from each, in the dialogue process.
The National Dialogue intends to engage a minimum of 10 million South Africans over the entirety of the total project.
#NationalDialogueZA
The Steering Committee induction is not a public spectacle.
It is careful, technical work to ensure the National Dialogue is coordinated, credible, and fit for purpose.
This is how trust is built.
#NationalDialogueZA
Radical Reforms, Rapid Response, Rebuild and Heal the Nation, these are the 3 pillars underlying the Impact Guide of the National Dialogue.

"Let us not turn this dialogue into a theatre...Let accountability excel over expedience, the dialogue should live on as a practise reported back to constituencies, contested in good faith and contingent on action, let us continue as a community faithful to the national interest" - Mr Boichoko Dithlake - Former National Convention Organising Committee Chairperson and member of the National Dialogue Steering Committee.
Day One of induction is focused on alignment.
How decisions are taken.
How communication flows.
How accountability is exercised across structures.
A national process depends on this discipline.
#NationalDialogueZA
We wish to call on all South Africans from all walks of life and sectors as represented in the Steering Committee. South Africans from every ward, village, town and city to take ownership of the process and take ownership of it - Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, Chairperson of the Eminent Persons Group
As the Steering Committee prepares for induction, the focus is simple:
Clear roles, shared discipline, and coordinated action.
The National Dialogue moves forward through structure, not noise.

The National Dialogue did not end on 15 August 2025.
That Convention launched a long-term, citizen-led process.
We are now in the implementation phase, starting with the induction of the Steering Committee this weekend.
This is where coordination, accountability, and follow-through matter.

Our democracy turns 30. Inequality and disconnection threaten its promise. The National Dialogue is a collective reset, a process to rebuild trust and define the South Africa we want.
