Every time we passed by the Sednaya prison when I was a child, I would ask my father about that place. It had vast areas surrounded by a wall all around. Just seeing it from the outside terrified me.

My father would answer me every time: "This is a place where the worst kinds of torture happen, pray for those inside."
And every time, I would close my eyes until we moved away from the place.

It turned out that what lies beneath the prison is even worse than the prison itself, and the faces of the detainees released today tell stories of the horror, torture, and oppression they lived through.

For Sednaya prison alone, even if there were no other problems in Syria, the regime deserves to fall.

I wish my father had lived to see this day.
