The Czech Academy of Sciences has a new Program to support the return or recruitment of outstanding scientists from abroad. Who is eligible: • not employed in the CZ, • abroad for at least 2 years, • will have a minimum of a 0.6 FTE, • holds a Ph.D. for no more than 12 years

It is beyond me how the current administration is reducing the defence spending when we have the biggest war in Europe since WWII raging just a couple of hundred km from our border.
Last year, NATO agreed to ramp up defense spending to five percent of GDP by 2035 — with 3.5 percent earmarked for hard military spending.
But Czechia is heading in the opposite direction.

Can I ask you not to shrug and think "this is what happens in war." You know what would make that true, constant images of civilian casualties in Russia. That doesn't happen. Because targeting civilians is a choice. Ukraine doesn't do it.
Too few are aware that, although Russia has roughly 2–3 times more military casualties than Ukraine, it has 20–30 times fewer civilian casualties.
This is because Russia, the aggressor, targets civilians, while Ukraine does not.
