Today, Tim Wilson has been officially declared as the Member for Goldstein.

I wish him the best, trusting that he serves our community with integrity and effectiveness.

I’m deeply proud of our honest, hopeful campaign. To our incredible volunteers: you are the heart of this movement. You’ve shown that politics can be done differently.

This time, Independence didn’t win.
But tomorrow, it will.

Because the future is still ours to shape—and you are its rock.

It’s been a long process, and after a recount of about 75% of the votes cast, there were only a few votes in it.

Today we did not win. But we are not defeated. Hard things are hard, and a better kind of politics is worth fighting for.

The Australian Electoral Commission has agreed to conduct a partial recount in Goldstein.

I will be making no further comment until the process is complete.

The result in Goldstein is obviously close and it will be some days before the result is confirmed.

I again thank the voters of Goldstein for their support as well as the many volunteers who worked tirelessly on my campaign.
