🕯️🇿🇼 A MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE

Today, I want to take a moment to sincerely appreciate everyone who played a role in leading and supporting the memorial for the lives lost in the Lake Kariba tragedy.

First and foremost, I want to appreciate Comrade @TitusTaffy , my fellow leader and co-host, who came early and encouraged us to stand in solidarity with the people of Kariba and the families who lost their loved ones. You pushed the message of unity and mourning. You encouraged people to change their profile pictures to black as a symbol of grief, remembrance and solidarity. That is leadership.

Leadership does not always wait for someone to tell you what to do. Leadership comes with responsibility. Sometimes you must see what needs to be done, own the responsibility and act. Real leadership shows itself, especially when people are losing hope. Leadership must bring hope to citizens when hope is fading.

Thank you, Comrade Titus, for stepping up and giving people something to rally behind. Sometimes it may feel as though people are not noticing or appreciating the good work being done, but the truth is that the world is watching. People see. People remember. And one day, the good that you have done will be recognised.

That is what leadership is about.

Leadership must be responsible, must listen to the people and must never be afraid of criticism or feedback. The leaders we need in this struggle are leaders who learn, grow and remain connected to the citizens they claim to serve.

I also want to thank @KhonzananiM my co-host, @munzhoZef, @Marcie4LOC @thelegend_tsepy for helping to push this memorial and honour the 100 precious lives lost in Lake Kariba. Your efforts and commitment are truly appreciated.

To everyone who joined the Space, participated in the memorial and changed their profile picture to black, thank you. Your simple act of solidarity showed the grieving families and the people of Kariba that they are not alone. We mourn with them. We remember with them.

A special appreciation also goes to @wenyikaiman , whose message and contribution will not go unnoticed. Well done for standing with the people and using your voice when it mattered.

And to @freemanchari , thank you for dedicating your Space to a full hour of silence. In a world where everyone wants to speak, choosing to be silent in honour of those we lost was a powerful act of respect. Well done, my sister @letterztoafrica thank you for standing with Kariba.

Today showed us something important: leadership is not a title. Leadership is action. Leadership is responsibility. Leadership is standing up when people need someone to stand with them.

To everyone who played a part, no matter how small or big, thank you. Let us continue to stand together, remember those we lost and fight for a future where the lives of our people are valued and protected.
