A distressing situation has emerged in Kahawa Wendani, where a young mother and her 1-year-7-month-old baby have reportedly spent four consecutive nights sleeping in the open after being evicted from her uncle’s house.
According to her account, the woman had taken time off for over a year to care for her newborn before recently securing a job and moving in with her uncle in hopes of rebuilding her life. However, her stay was cut short when the uncle allegedly forced her out, citing plans to get married as the reason for reclaiming the space.
Left without shelter, the mother and child have been exposed to harsh conditions, raising concern among locals who have come across their situation.

Silvester Mwenda was picked up by DCI officers from his home in Igembe North, Meru on the evening of 19th December, 2025. He was never seen alive again.
When his brother and friends demanded to know why he was being arrested, the officers informed them that Silvester had been found with 20 rolls of bhang but they would release him in exchange for KSH 20,000. They could not raise the amount immediately and the officers drove off with Silvester in his car, a Toyota Succeed, registration number KDE 473W.
On Monday 22nd, Silvester's family went to the police station to ask whether he had been taken to court but they could not find him, and the officers there denied having arrested him.
They eventually discovered he had been booked at Maua Police Station and DCI officers had taken him away to an unknown destination on the morning of 20th December. The family discovered his lifeless body lying at Maua mortuary, where it had been registered under a different name. They have been pursuing the post-mortem report since December last year, but have been unsuccessful to date.
The murder of Kenyans while in police custody must not be allowed to go on. IPOA is the agency mandated to hold rogue officers accountable but it's failing victims and their families. Investigations take too long to complete and there are not enough prosecutions. Silvester was picked up from his home and later murdered by the police. Those responsible are known and must be arrested and prosecuted without further delay. #SemaUkweli
