Let's continue the discussion on decolonizing zooarchaeology.
Next to a video recording of my talk I will be posting the five discussion points I proposed in this 🧵 and also ones that came up during today's discussion at @ZooarchSTW#ZooarchTheWorld#Zooarchaeology

Office of the week is the @lorentzcenter where we are having real great discussions regarding Ethics in Caribbean Archaeology. Thanks to our organisers for having us here! @ehmalatesta @felicia_fricke
Our paper entitled 'The ethics of studying human and non-human remains in the Circum-Caribbean' is finally out via Inter-Section. It's open access, so you can find it through https://t.co/TdC36PECXM or straight to the pdf: https://t.co/MYMi811YwM

@SnakesAndBones I found that starting with the graphics (eg. fun photos) helped. At that point you’ve already started and you can fill in the blanks as you go! Plus you get to look at (in my case) some funky animals which is always a good thing :)
The new @ICAZ_News president, Mariana Mondini, stating her intent to strive towards decolonize our (zoo)archaeological practice makes me hopeful. Let’s work together towards making these worlds a living and working reality.

Fantastic plenary panel on Traditional Knowledge at #icaz2023 this morning. Jamie Tarrant’s description of combining Indigenous knowledge with western science as a “grass woven mat” where strands can be woven together to understand the whole story was particularly striking.
@osteo_clo wonderfully summarised our struggles and willingness regarding incorporating FAIR and CARE principles in our work, especially as graduate, PhD, and other early career researchers
Hopefully we can set up an @ICAZ_News working group on FAIR+CARE principles #OpenScience
Thanks to everyone who stuck around for the last presentation at the session today!
Looking forward to enjoying the next three days of worry-free #icaz2023
