A Chinese man, Hai Shi, running for Ward 103, City of Johannesburg. Under the ANC. The People's Councillor.
And there is silence.
No marches. No burning tyres. No hashtags. No Operation Dudula van with loudspeakers shouting "foreigners must go." No press conference asking for his passport, his papers, his ancestry. No one asking how long he has been here, or if he is "really South African."
Now imagine if that face on that yellow poster was Nigerian. Or Zimbabwean. Or Malawian. Or Mozambican.
South Africa would be ungovernable by sunset.
A Chinese national from 10,000 km away in Asia can become "The People's Councillor" in Johannesburg and we call it diversity,

@HermanMashaba I invite you to visit Mozambique and visit the various sites where South Africans were killed by the apartheid system and many other Mozambicans.
Hi Crime Watch, please hide my ID. My story goes like this: On 16 October 2026, I was coming from a tuckshop in our street when I met a young man from our community who asked me to help a lady who was struggling to breathe.
When I got to her, I realised that her condition was serious, so I rushed her to Makomva/Glenview 1 Clinic. By then, it was around 8pm. To my surprise, we were told that they only attend to pregnant women at night.
We then rushed to Machipisa. I would like to thank the officer at the gate at Machipisa Police Station who directed us to a Polytechnic Clinic. Unfortunately, we could not get help there either, as we were given the same response as at Glenview 1 Clinic.
Our last option was Sally Mugabe Central Hospital. The lady was still struggling to breathe, but she could still talk. She even asked me to drive fast enough to get her there before it was too late.
When we arrived at the hospital, she was taken straight to the intensive care unit. Her relatives can testify to what happened after that, as I was left waiting outside.
I waited from around 9pm until 2am. Unfortunately, at around 12pm, I received a message informing me that the woman had passed away.
My question, which I direct to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, why donโt these clinics have nurses on duty at night who can attend to emergency cases? What happens to people who need urgent medical attention during the night?
I understand that some clinics may have limited resources, but surely there should be qualified medical staff available to assess and assist patients in emergencies, regardless of the time.
I am not saying that the woman would have survived if she had received help at the first clinic, but it is worrying that we had to move from one health facility to another while she was struggling to breathe.
If anyone can help me understand why this happens, I would appreciate it. The Ministry of Health and Child Care needs to address this issue because emergencies do not wait for morning.

This is how White slave traders transported Africans across the Atlantic.
They packed men, women and children into the holds of ships, chained them together and stacked them in suffocating spaces like worthless cargo.
Human beings were crammed together for weeks or months, surrounded by filth, disease, starvation and death.
Many were shackled so tightly they could barely move.
Others were thrown overboard when they died or became too sick to be considered profitable.
At least 2 million Africans died during the Middle Passage alone.
Think about that.
Millions of people never reached the other side of the Atlantic.
Their lives were stolen before they even arrived at the plantations where survivors would be forced to work.
And all of this was done for profit.
African men, women and children were reduced to commodities in one of history's largest forced migrations, their suffering turned into wealth for slave traders, merchants and plantation owners.
Slavery was not just exploitation.
It was the systematic dehumanization of an entire people for economic gain.
Slavery is one of humanity's greatest crimes.
Never let anyone romanticize it, minimize it or erase what was done to African people.
๐ธWhere is the article announcing that Simbarashe Kundizedza won the Caine Prize? Where is the article discussing his writing prowess? Why would you choose to centre spurious, defamatory, malicious allegations that arenโt even substantiated? He is a brilliant writer. This poorly-veiled campaign to take him down is regrettable.
We look forward to continuing to read his work.
We need new leaders.๐ฟ๐ผ
