I’ve been thinking about the meaning behind “33.”

France’s international calling code is 33, and Sandfall Interactive happens to have 33 members — 32 humans and one dog.

Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy—his most famous epic poem—is divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso.
There’s one introductory canto, followed by 33 cantos in each part, making a perfect total of 100.
The story follows a soul’s journey through unknown realms, uncovering truth, and ultimately realizing that love is the force that drives all existence.
This structure also fits the setting, where the Monolith Era begins at year 100 and counts down by one each year.
That theme really resonates with Expedition 33.

Most vinyl records spin at 33⅓ rpm, and interestingly, there are also 33 records to collect in the game.

In numerology, 33 is known as the most powerful “master number.”
It represents a universal mission and carries meanings like wishes coming true, new beginnings, family love, and the courage to move forward without fearing change.
People associated with 33 are said to have both innocence and deep compassion.
They’re altruistic, find joy in helping others, and value emotional and spiritual connection above all else.
Yet their kindness can easily slip into self-sacrifice — kind of reminds me of a certain someone.

Verso’s death date is 33 Décembre.
Obviously, “December 33” doesn’t exist; it’s an impossible date.
In old French, le 33 décembre was actually an expression meaning something impossible.
So maybe Verso’s ending itself is someone’s wish for something that shouldn’t exist…

Thanks to Expedition 33, I’ve completely fallen in love with the number 33.
Whether it’s 33 minutes, 33rd Street, or the number 33 on a receipt, I get ridiculously excited every time I see it.
