@IJaSport The foundation of their game is exactly what you described. They don't dominate every pattern or every tactical structure, but they dominate the tools (scanning, passing, protection, basic principles of play, etc...) that allow them to play against every team.

@IJaSport I have that discussion with my colleagues all the time. We see Spain national teams play every year, from U15 to Senior, men and women... it's amazing how every player manipulates Time and Space wonderfully and has tools to solve almost every in-game situation.
