I keep getting clowned for being so vocal about the tik tok ban because “I should get a real job” but lemme explain: I am signed and big enough to not need a new job. Will my income decrease in the immediate months following, yes most likely a huge one, but because of tik tok I got signed, got management, and dug myself out of debt to now even if I changed careers and worked minimum wage I would not wake up every day in debt. But here’s the thing: I started with none of that. Five years ago i was sleeping in a bunk bed sharing a room with three others when the pandemic started. I briefly moved home to stay with my mom and made videos with my phone propped on her trash. My mom worked for a school (so yes public school tax bracket not a nepo baby) and I was eating ramen and laid off my side hustle. Tik tok was a free app that allowed me to promote myself for free in an image that I had full control over. It’s an app that leveled the playing field for all artists. So with that going away and the main outlet being something like meta that loves bribe money etc I have no doubt that the playing field will no longer be level. So I will be fine but your fave local artist will take a massive hit from this. And they do not deserve this. So fuck our government as usual. But your local scene needs your support now more than ever.

Seeing all these angry tweets about Chappell roan pulling out of a show and being mad she didn’t do it sooner is making me so sad because: I played a show in Brisbane a few weeks ago that I had to fly 16 hours to get to and right before doors/VIP I got devastating news that sent me into a full blown panic attack right before and I couldn’t stop crying but then i remembered that if I cancelled on people that love me and payed money to see me they would be upset so I started crying even more. And then cried even harder realizing it was sold out and I should be having a great time but wasn’t. The show was for a total of 550 people I believe. So just remember that if someone actually pulls out of a show they must REALLY have something going on because the guilt you feel is immeasurable and even when I did play that show I felt low key traumatized afterwards feeling like I couldn’t say no. And again this was for like 200 times less people lol nobody can control when their life and mental health doesn’t align with every second of their career
Last year I was supposed to see @scenequeenrocks and missed the concert because I had a migraine. Now I was supposed to see her on Friday and I'm going to miss it because I have covid. Why does the universe not want me to see Scene Queen??
