On Mars, sunsets are blue. ๐
On Earth, they glow red and orange. Same Sun. Why the difference?
Sunlight contains every colour.
Air molecules scatter short blue wavelengths far more than red ones (Rayleigh scattering).
So by day, blue fills the sky.
At sunset, light crosses much more air.
The blue gets scattered away, and reds and oranges remain.
Why not violet? Sunlight has less of it, and our eyes are less sensitive to it.
Mars: the air is thin but full of fine dust.
That dust scatters blue light forward, close to the Sun's direction.
So around the setting Sun, the Martian sky glows blue.
๐ก Our Take: The same sunlight paints two planets differently. Everyday sights hide great physics.
๐ Which sunset would you rather see: Earth or Mars?
Same ground. 48 hours later. Round 2. ๐
New Zealand vs India, 2nd T20I, Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
Start: 8 PM local, 12:30 PM IST.
The series: 5 T20Is in 4 cities.
Next stops: Wellington (Oct 27), Auckland (Oct 30), Hamilton (Nov 1).
Both sides played on this exact pitch two days earlier. No more guessing.
๐ก Our Take: Back-to-back games at one venue reward whoever reads the conditions faster.
๐ Bat first or chase at Hagley? One word.
51 countries signed up in 1945. Now there are 193.
On Oct 24, 1945, the UN Charter came into force. ๐
81 years later:
193 member states.
5 permanent Security Council members, each with a veto.
A UN80 reform and budget-cut drive underway.
A new Secretary-General to be chosen, as Antรณnio Guterres's term ends Dec 31, 2026.
๐ก Our Take: Every era asks the UN to change. Reform works best when all members are heard.
๐ Should the Security Council veto be scrapped? Yes or No?
Offside in 4 lines. โฝ
1. You're in an offside position if any part of your head, body or feet is in the opponent's half and nearer the goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent.
2. Hands and arms don't count.
3. Being offside is only an offence if you get involved in active play.
4. No offside from a goal kick, throw-in or corner.
And level = onside.
๐ก Our Take: One of football's most debated laws is simpler than it looks. Knowing the wording helps every fan.
๐ Should "level" stay onside? Yes or No?
Your phone never talks to GPS satellites. It only listens. ๐ฐ๏ธ
Here's how it finds you:
It picks up signals from at least 4 satellites.
Each signal travels at the speed of light, so travel time = distance.
4 signals give your 3D position plus the clock error.
The satellites orbit about 20,200 km up.
The twist: relativity makes their clocks run about 38 microseconds a day fast. GPS is designed to correct for it.
๐ก Our Take: A century-old physics idea now guides everyday trips. Basic science often pays off in unexpected places.
๐ Does your phone's map need Einstein to work? Yes or No?
56 laps. 308.405 km. A lap record that has stood since 2019. ๐๏ธ
The United States GP weekend is on at COTA, Austin.
Lap length: 5.513 km.
Lap record: 1:36.169, Charles Leclerc, 2019.
COTA's first GP: 2012, won by Lewis Hamilton.
Qualifying: Saturday. Race: Sunday, 3 PM Austin time (1:30 AM IST Monday).
๐ก Our Take: Seven years and nobody has beaten Leclerc's 2019 lap. This weekend's pace will show how close the current cars can get.
๐ Will the pole-sitter win in Austin? Yes or No?

๐ 226 to win. India got there in the final over.
New Zealand set 225/4 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
India chased it down to lead the five-match T20I series 1-0.
How it swung:
Sanju Samson hit a 23-ball fifty, his 11th in T20Is.
India were 68/0 after just 4 overs.
Then New Zealand's spinners struck back and the chase wobbled.
Naman Dhir's late hitting finished it. ๐ฅ
๐ก Our Take: Two sides pushed each other all the way to the last over. Big hitting, a real fightback with the ball and a tense finish make this a strong start to the series.
Who takes the series: India or New Zealand? ๐
๐ Tesla wants 5 million cars a year by around 2030.
Today it delivers about 486,000 a quarter.
Q3 in numbers:
Revenue $28.05B, roughly flat.
Net income $787M, down about 43%.
Free cash flow $1.53B, ahead of expectations.
The bigger bet is beyond cars ๐ค
FSD subscriptions up 67% to 1.74M.
Cybercab fleet in Austin grew about 10x in a month.
First Optimus deliveries planned by late 2027.
๐ก Our Take: Flat sales today and big plans for tomorrow can both be true. Steady execution will decide how far these goals go.
๐ Can Tesla hit 5M cars a year by 2030: yes or no?
๐ Grok Bot can now build pages: reports, memos and dashboards.
You ask for one, edit it together with your Bot, or let it keep the page up to date on its own.
๐ง Why it matters: a chat answer disappears up the thread. A page stays, updates, and can be shared.
๐ก Our Take: Tools that turn answers into living documents can save teams real time. The value will come from how carefully people check what goes into them.
๐ค Earlier this year: 3-5 years.
Now: 2-3 years.
Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis just moved his AGI estimate closer, in a Wall Street Journal profile (Oct 21).
"It's soon. I'm updating nearer and nearer."
๐ง What he means by AGI:
A system with the full cognitive range of the human brain.
Not some of our skills. All of them.
His test is simple to say, hard to pass:
Give an AI only knowledge up to 1901.
Can it come up with Einstein's 1905 papers, including special relativity, on its own?
That's the difference between answering questions and discovering new ideas.
๐ก Our Take: One top researcher's timeline is an informed view, not a fixed date. A clear test like this helps everyone judge real progress calmly, and the focus that serves all of us is building it safely, for everyone's benefit.
AGI by 2029: yes or no? ๐
