Congratulations to Dr. Nalishebo Meebelo who is an Executive director of the Regional Network of Agriculture Policy Research Institute, (ReNAPRI) as well as a proactive ZaWARD member for winning the ECU International Alumni Award from the Edith Cowan University (ECU) .
ZaWARD was invited by @Zambian National STEM Foundation to participate in the first STEM awareness festival whose theme was "STEM Awakening". ZaWARD promotes STEM through role modeling events in Secondary Schools in Zambia.
Congratulations to our ZaWARD members for being selected for the The Gender Responsive Agriculture Systems Policy (GRASP) fellowship of 2022 which is a career development program that targets mid- career African women involved in gender responsive agricultural policies in Africa.
This week ZaWARD trained Chikoka cooperative in Mwembeshi in tomato processing in partnership with Zambia Research Institute post-harvest department. The farmers are being trained in tomato processing into tomato powder, tomato jam and tomato sauce.

In Chongwe, the trained female tomato farmers have continued practicing how to dry tomatoes and make tomato powder as well as processing tomatoes into tomato sauce.

ZaWARD in collaboration with Graduate Women Zambia had a role modelling event at Ellensdale Secondary School in Lusaka on 16th September 2022. They gave a talk about different career choices in the science field as well as other social topics that impact pupils negatively.

We have now come to the end of our mentorship series with our last mentee being Monica MKonda.

After about a month of drying the tomatoes, the female tomato farmers in Mwalumina, Lwimba and Lukoshi agricultural camps in Chongwe were able to make tomato powder. It can be used to make stews thicker and and also as a dry barbeque rub amongst other uses.
ZaWARD 's members Chambanenge Stellah and Jedidah Chilufya will be presenting their research topics in collaboration with collegues from the the University of Zambia (UNZA) during a webinar which will be held on 24th August,2022 at 15.00hrs. Please see details below.

Yesterday one of our members Lily Samakayi took part in the tomato processing training in Lukoshi, Chongwe.
The tomato farmers in Lukoshi are being trained on how to process tomatoes into tomato sauce and tomato powder. On day 1, the farmers learnt about food handling practices.
