Jesus reclined at the table with Pharisees, tax collectors, sinners, the marginalized and the spiritually sick, as well as his followers. Let us put away the accusation weapons and pick up the weapon of hospitality.
“Count it JOY when you face trials of various kinds”
“For the Joy set before him he endured the cross”
If 2020 took your joy, you’ve taken your eyes off Christ.

We have grown accustomed to functioning in extremes. If we are going to learn to live in correct tension we must take serious this time to examine our idolatrous hearts.
Resentment or revenge reveals our natural disposition for justice and desire for a just Judge. At the same time it reveals our need for a “generous Judge” for we too have tempted others into resentment and revenge. Oh how the cross is both just and gracious!
As the plaintiff we will receive justice, as the criminal we will receive pardon. As long as we recognize we are really guilty before God in both cases. What wonderful grace found in the cross of Jesus Christ.
