3 to Bethany despite what coaches told the guys wasn’t possible.
When a HS coach tells you what can’t be done…🥱
3 young men in our community will be playing college football because a volunteer was forced to completely take over their, previously abandoned, recruitment.
🤝
Great story with @ZachDove_
-4 followers as of Feb 20th (33 now)
-Recruitment non-existent
-HS told him his dreams were dead
-His teammate @Turon_Davis reached out to me on behalf of his guy
-Get the process started
-Zach does everything I ask
-Zach gets on a visit the next day, a 14 hour round trip
-Zach secured the offer
-Zach and his family talk things over
-Zach is now a part of the college football world. There is nothing better than that.
Zach will have structure, lifting, & Great coaches on top of his grades. Zach will make 100+ new friends, Zach will make memories he can call home about, Zach gets to hold on to his dream a bit longer.
The toughest part of this is, often times, reviving the dreams of the kids who have had their dreams suffocated. It’s not all on any one entity, everyone can do better, but it’s still the toughest… and most rewarding part of this.
Our community is a richer place when we come together to lift one another. Some don’t make it easy, & small town politics are what they are, but deep down - everyone benefits from the stories like this.
You can just choose to impact your community positively. You can make other people’s dreams come true, even after they’ve been told to give up, if you are driven to it.
Some people give me 🤫 for helping kids, some people get all worked up over the perceived power of a local HS, but you just have to make yourself proud of who you are, fight for the causes that matter, never sacrifice your character, never give up on a child, & make sure you have the most wonderful woman in the world by your side.
Don’t let anyone else dictate how you represent yourself. Those people won’t respect it anyway & that line gets a little fuzzy over time… when do you stop being pushed? If getting kids in our community to college causes stress, then there are deeper underlying issues to address.
Local politics … how it impacts parents, kids, etc. That’s why there are so many compelling HS football movies — maybe we’ll have our own story to share one day.
Thank you @Turon_Davis@HobgoodJohnny@Seamus_Orth for being the lifeline than Brian, Gio & Zach needed & deserved. You 26s should be very proud of yourselves & carry that bond for life. Teammates changing one another’s lives long after the HS football season concluded. Nobody has better guys than the Bayside.
On to the next
🤝
One of the best journeys I've had the pleasure to be a part of. What a 40 hours its been with @ZachDove_
Credit to the best teammate a guy could have, @Turon_Davis, for getting it started and making this moment possible for the incredibly talented Zach Dove.
40 hours after his teammate let me know Zach still had the dream to play college football:
475% increase in followers (all college coaches)
Visit offered
Trip made
Football offer secured
Nothing better than helping kids keep their ability to pursue their dreams alive. There are so many incredible college coaches who have brought more opportunities to the student athletes in the Bayside.
❤️
2026 RB/Slot @ZachDove_ is a kid who could have had 800-1,000 yards on a roster that wasn’t so loaded.
💥His 4.5 is a legitimate 4.5
💥He led his Hs in offseason workout attendance
He doesn’t dance around
He falls forward
He doesn’t complain about opportunity
He didn’t look to transfer out
💥He dusted college signees every day in practice
A game changing weapon still available from 2 time state champ Stephen Decatur.
2026 RB/Slot @ZachDove_
If you want to see the most underrated back in the 2026 class, look no further.
✅Top end speed
✅Hands
✅Strength
✅Balance
✅Toughness
I was lucky enough to see all of his practiced over the last 4 years; sometimes you get overlooked at a program that wins back to back state titles, but Zach Dove is a kid who is always a threat to score, does everything at 110%, and elevates those around him. You'd definitely rather have him on your team than have to play against him...
