@turtology We sang two of the three a capella this year. We don't have a regular organist currently, so we're singing a High Mass a cappella two Sundays a month. It can be done.
Apparently this needs to be said:
Today is not Epiphany.
Today is the 2nd Sunday after Nativity.
It is also the 11th Day of Christmas.
Epiphany is Tuesday.
It follows the 12th Day (and night) of Christmas,
which is tomorrow.
Pope Leo still at it—pastoral care is deficient, even rigid, when separated from study.
“There is sometimes the idea that research and study do not serve for real life, that what matters in the Church is pastoral practice more than the theological, biblical or legal preparation. The risk is to slip into the temptation to simplify complex issues to avoid the fatigue of thought, with the danger that, even in pastoral action and in its languages, it falls into banality, approximation or rigidity” (Address to the Lateran University, 11.14.2025)
@rleoutlaw@Young_Anglican Well, the Anglican Catholic Church has nearly two hundred congregations in Tanzania and several dioceses in South Africa. The Anglican Province of America has a large work in Ecuador. Both the ACC and the APA have churches in India and the Philippines.
@elderservant1@MDLatinMass I, an Anglican priest, have attended Latin Masses a number of times because I was curious, because I was on vacation, because I was in Rome and went to Santissima Trinita dei Pellegrini, and because I took my latin students on a field trip. It happens more that you might expect.
@kmtran95@Vigilanter6@MargoCatholic In the Anglican Catholic Church, all Fridays of the year, except Christmas, Epiphany, and Fridays faking between those days are days of abstinence. However, my bishop granted a dispensation for Independence Day.
