“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
— J.R.R. Tolkien

Just a reminder— please include your social media handles in your query so agents can creep while they are obsessing over your manuscript while reading. Hi, it’s me, I’m that agent 👀.
The quote is originally from Henry David Thoreau, and the second half is, "What is called resignation is confirmed desperation." The point of the statement was to shed light on those that have given up on their hopes and dreams, and submit themselves to a purpose that they ultimately hate. How many people do you know that had youthful aspirations to create and do great things, but gave that up for the safe 9-5 job, yet still long for those aspirations decades later? I know many. It's a quote that's meant to remind us not to become organic automatons, and continue to pursue what we love, no matter what life throws at us.
Sorry to be annoying but I'm sooooo proud of myself. This is the first book I've queried and I started querying in June 🥹🎀
If anyone wants a free query critique, just DM me. I don't think anyone should have to pay for one.
