The knife — just like a gun — provides additional courage to its holder.

That’s the downside of packing weapons. Supposed to be deterrents, but often lead to more violence than they prevent.

I think Karmelo thought, after the verbal warning, he wouldn’t even need to pull it out. Metcalf called his bluff.
