#UPDATE: #Egypt rejects interference in #Somalia during CIA chief meeting

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has firmly rejected any interference threatening Somalia’s sovereignty, unity or territorial integrity, while reaffirming Cairo’s support for the country’s security and stability. El-Sisi stated the position during a meeting with #CIA Director John Ratcliffe, attended by Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad.

Discussions focused on Somalia, the Horn of Africa and international maritime security. Ratcliffe praised Egypt’s role in supporting stability across Africa and called for continued coordination between #Cairo and Washington.

Both sides said stronger intelligence cooperation could help combat terrorism, organized crime and cross-border threats affecting the #RedSea and wider regional security today.
