The victim in this evening’s Brakpan shooting has been confirmed as Marius “Vlam” van der Merwe, a former EMPD member and owner of QRF Task Team.

He was reportedly a key witness in the Madlanga commission and was shot and killed on Gauld Street, Brendhurst, Brakpan.
SAPS management is on scene, and the investigation is underway.

Our thoughts are with his family, colleagues, and all those affected by this incident.
