Trials of civilians in military courts violate Pakistan’s obligations under International human rights law.

Article 10A of the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees the right to a fair trial, ensuring that every individual is entitled to a transparent and just legal process. Military courts, however, represent a direct violation of this fundamental right, as they operate without the necessary transparency and due process required by law.

Moreover, Amnesty International has cited 7 reasons why civilian trials in military courts are unfair and unlawful:

1. Disregard of due process
2. No access to lawyers
3. Lack of transparency
4. Coerced confessions
5. No information or reasoning for sentencing
6. Torture and ill-treatment of suspects
7. Executions after unfair trials

Shameful, Pakistan has become a lawless country!
