@IMAO_ I worked at Kay Bee during the Tickle Me Elmo/Nintendo64 Christmas season.

It was utter madness. People were buying *PILOTWINGS64* on spec, hoping that we'd get actual consoles and Mario to give to their kids come Christmas Day.

Important chart from @EconBerger

Healthcare costs are soaring again for employers (and frankly for most Americans). Take a look at the green line on the chart.

A key reason employers aren't eager to boost wages right now is b/c they are paying a lot more toward healthcare costs.

"Wage growth is being outpaced by benefit cost growth. And a major recent driver for benefit cost growth is employer health insurance contributions: they’re growing at 6.4% Y/Y, matching the fastest pace in two decades." - Economist Guy Berger

@stephenspin (Seriously: bought a Costco bag because my family loves pickles. Even the pickle-lovin’est of them got 5 puffs in or so and said “Yeah, that’s about enough”.)

"So, Patrick Stewart, you're going to be playing a French starship captain. Can you do a French accent?"

"Yes."

"Can we hear it?"

"No."

@BlkRobeRegiment @ReallyOldLife @PerfInjust @IVMiles What's this quote from?

Also, "orient" and "lead" aren't the same verbs at all, otherwise Boyd's OODA Loop collapses into a LODA Loop.

(Schwarzkopf exploiting Saddam's L-first schema via OODA is a masterful real world example of the difference.)

@GeorgeSayour @ehenes Is our pastors learning?

[Given enough eyeballs, all Dougs are shallow @zamoose]

@IVMiles @ConfessingKite @_Theopolis I'd argue your contention. Millerite/New Life theology, which draws from Kline and other urban renewalists at WTS Philly, most *definitely* is concerned with revival. New Life had an outsized influence on Keller and Escondido. (They're also not really "Reformed", so +1 you there)

This is excellent news.

BREAKING: For the first time in American history, the Department of Energy has approved a commercial nuclear microreactor's safety analysis for full-power operations.

LA-based Radiant secured the approval, with testing planned at Idaho National Laboratory.

@Hartoft @patmart100 @SketchesbyBoze Mild pushback: she wasn't just writing "for women". Her earliest writings, in particular, were written with her brothers in mind. Two of her brothers were incredibly successful Navy officers and rose to the rank of admiral.

@ReallyOldLife @GeorgeSayour @Neofightus "Marcionism, but for politics, philosophy, and ethics."

[Given enough eyeballs, all Dougs are shallow @zamoose]

@ReallyOldLife @GeorgeSayour @Neofightus This is the same method of argumentation that my religion studies (substitute) professor tried to run on me in re: claims of Jesus' divinity without using the book of John (because he claims John avows his bias in "so that you may believe). NO reason to dismiss Bible as ethics.
