AFRO Archive: on September 27, 2024 we hosted our first general meeting in UIC’s Black Cultural Center honoring Khaliifha “Marcellus” Williams. We discussed the renowed "all about love" by bell hooks to examine what it means to dismantle white supremacy by loving Black people.

AFRO Archive: On October 10th, 2024 we hosted our second general meeting guided by Dr. Angela Y. Davis’ "Are Prisons Obsolete?" in discussion of how prisons are used as a colonial weapon against Black, Brown, women, queer and all oppressed people.

AFRO Archive: on August 3rd, 2024 we held our first community event with an open mic and vigil for Sonya Massey. This event (hosted alongside) Florecer and El Paseo Garden offered a space for community members to grieve Massey’s murder through prayer, performance and solidarity!

We were founded as Chi Student Pandemic Response, fighting for educational equity during the pandemic. During 2020’s uprising protests, we rallied students against racial injustice and provided families with mutual aid support.
