They just got here??? They literally don’t know why???

Not to mention, punishing curiosity by labeling it “talking back” will limit their development and intelligence.

A child asking questions isn’t automatically being disrespectful.

Sometimes they’re genuinely confused.
Sometimes they’re trying to understand your reasoning.
Sometimes they’re testing how the world works.

And if every question gets met with:

“Because I said so.”

“Stop questioning me.”

“Don’t talk back.”

Eventually, they learn that asking questions = trouble.

You don’t want a child who blindly obeys everything.

You want a child who can think, question, understand, and make good decisions.

Let them ask why.

You can teach respect without teaching them to stop being curious.
