Today I wanna talk about a part of Miden that makes everything possible.
It's rarely talked about, but without it, the whole infra crumbles.
It's the cornerstone on which everything else is built on Miden.
I'm talking about Notes.
First of all, a note is a programmable message used to transfer assets and data between accounts. Their core difference from traditional systems is that Miden doesn't use Ethereum's standard Account-based model, nor Bitcoin's pure UTXO model. It uses a hybrid Actor Model.
I'll briefly talk about a key importance of notes in parts of this post.
Now, imagine being able to send someone funds or data, but instead of forcing them to accept it immediately on-chain, it sits in a secure, independent digital lockbox until they choose to claim it.
Familiar right? It sounds like asynchronous messaging.
But how does Miden use it?
Instead of the blockchain forcing every user to update one single, massive global state sequentially (causing massive congestion and high gas fees), Miden treats every account as an independent state machine.
When you want to interact, you don't edit someone else's state; you simply generate a Note that says:
"Here are the assets, and here is the script defining exactly how you can consume them."
And the recipient can read and consume that claim asynchronously, entirely on their own time.
Because this transaction happens via localized message passing, execution can happen concurrently across thousands of users without anyone blocking each other.
This is one of the reasons high throughput and scalability on Miden are possible.
But concurrency is only one part of the story.
Notes also enable flawless off-chain privacy.
The assets and the script attached to a Note can be kept entirely private. The security comes directly from the network tracking only the commitment (the hash) of the note, not its contents, protecting your data from front-running and public exposure.
They are also designed around absolute user sovereignty, which means you are fully in control of when, where, and how you consume the notes sent to your account.
That's a huge advantage in a world where public blockchains force you to constantly expose your transaction queue to the public mempool.
It is how the core architecture of Miden was designed from the initial stage to break away from the limitations of traditional EVM structures.
Because of this, Miden's future is secured.
So when people talk about @0xMiden , they shouldn't just focus on the cryptography or the VM itself. Attention should be given to Notes and the Actor Model, because without it, none of it works.
One thing I feel stands out about Miden is its eyes for meaningful contributions.
Miden introduced its points and rank and reputation system where contributors earn xp points for making meaningful contents and contributions, this is not a farming strategy but one that rewards commitment and consistency, not forgetting to mention its game nights organized by @blkylimm.
What makes this super interesting is the fact that every meaningful post on @0xmiden can be nominated and committed members only can participate in game nights, which makes every contribution count and worthwhile.
Looking forward to get into one of the teams for game night today hopefully.
Itβs still a good time to hop on Miden
