Samsung Display gave its currently most advanced OLED panel, the M16 OLED, to three flagship devices: the iPhone Duo, the Galaxy S27 Pro / Ultra, and the iQOO 16.

Ironically, despite how impressive this panel is, the final results are completely different in the hands of different manufacturers.

The inner display of the iPhone Duo is severely compromised by its matte screen protector, which significantly reduces its transparency and visual quality. The Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, meanwhile, add privacy-display technology, sacrificing viewing angles and off-axis image quality. Of the three devices, only the iQOO 16 preserves the M16 OLED’s original strengths to the greatest extent, fully bringing out its advantages in brightness, clarity, color, and viewing angles.

That is the most unfortunate part. Samsung Display invested enormous resources to bring OLED to this level, only for smartphone manufacturers to take these top-tier panels and strip away their most valuable display advantages with a layer of film or a privacy-display structure.

A screen this good actually needs very little: don’t alter it unnecessarily, don’t overdesign it, and simply let its original capabilities shine through in full.

Moon Sung-hoon, Executive Vice President of Samsung MX Hardware, replied:

"We will decide whether to adopt the technology on a product-by-product basis, depending on whether the battery can help improve the customer experience."

@ATVIAssist I can’t hear at least one party member on voice chat while playing any mode. I’ve tried resetting multiple times.
