@den4su Yeah, to be fair I did type this out very late at night after a friend having told me about this. I usually am not very active on this platform but this is one of those cases that I actually had something to say about it.
If the person this is referring to turns out to be Razuatix... there is a lot I can say about him that in my eyes, he deserved getting cut out of the game's profits.
For context back around 2019-2020 in the early days of this game I was an Admin in the community.
A Roblox creator is suing Tower Defense Simulator's dev for $35 million, claiming he was cut out of the game's profits
The lawsuit also alleges they paid engineers in Robux
@NotLeon_lol Well from the article I saw, it seems he was very stubborn on signing some agreement because he believed he "wasn't an employee" and was instead a partner. Whatever is to be believed, his toxicity is still there. Despite my personal opinion of TDS, it is better off without him.
@ViperedMantis There was an article I saw that explained more specifically why he had disappeared from TDS suddenly several years back, not necessarily because of being toxic or an asshole, it is just my personal experience with him as a person. But yes, he was.
@Mrman77721 Yeah originally it was just BelowNatural as a school project he was doing, originally being based off Tower Battles. I got invited to it by Synoise, it grew popular because of John Roblox and rest is history.
@RivCaX_ I believe at some point Roblox updated and left in a massive memory leak of some kind because there is also the fact that sometimes if you even press '/' to open the chat it will make your FPS dip. The most annoying thing of all time, other friends of mine noticed this too.
@ReverseRBLX I saw someone post about the fact that since Roblox HQ is based in California, they are making a bunch of age verification laws that businesses in that state are forced to implement or something, not sure how true that is.
@ValraSwag I don't use a lot of Roblox API often, but I do find it weird you can publicly get this data for any account through an API call, but either way: This is strictly just whether the account itself is ID verified. The DevEx stuff is completely separated.
@__breakloop@FizzineX What makes you think it would be deprecated? There is nothing outdated about it, and it is pretty standard to access it purely by just doing `workspace`. I see nothing to point it towards possibly being deprecated.
Add this to the massive pile of reasons I want to quit development on Roblox but for some reason never do. Roblox is supposed to be FREE, both for playing and creating. Like genuinely I'm FORCED TO PAY MONEY to MAKE GAMES?
Roblox is changing the eligibility to upload games on the platform.
To publish for all ages, you now need:
- Roblox Plus;
- ID Verification & Age Check;
- 2-Step Verification enabled;
- and have your account in "good standing".
Roblox will additionally run games through trials to ensure engagement is legitimate and not from fake or bot accounts.
To publish for Ages 16+ & Trusted Friends, you now need:
- An account in "good standing";
- An age check; and
- An account that is at least 2 days old.
Any user on the platform, whether they meet any of the requirements, can still publish games for personal use.
Roblox is stating they chose this requirements because "most creators already meet many of the criteria" and it will "make it more difficult for bad actors to bypass our moderation systems". Lastly, Roblox will make that transition by providing 100,000 users with a Free Roblox Plus subscription for 6 months. To be eligible, a user may have a minimum of 100 hours of total playtime on their game in the past month & no major violations of Roblox's Community Standards.
@ForgottenGian I don't know if he always had those twisted views or not because things only really started going downhill since around 2018/2019. Anything prior was kind of whatever and even further back was fine. One thing for sure is that he is WAY out of his depth now as the CEO.
It has been made clear, that because of how big Roblox has gotten over the years, they decided to outsource their support, or just completely let AI handle all of it, which seems to be more the case honestly. Making a dedicated support team would've been so easy.
