@ZitheeArt@cydristrasz Exactly, like the fact that it is sometimes more advantageous to transform a PvE set into a PvP set than to transform a standard PvP set to give it a tier bonus.

Just a big text on my views on Midnight ~1.5 months in:
In contrast to good content, things to do and get busy with in the game, I am more and more finding myself bored and turned off by the world building and lore that is going on in Midnight. It is quite sad because I really enjoyed it on launch, but now I am struggling to even articulate my issue. I'm just rolling my eyes and sighing most of the time I interact with characters (npcs) and the story.
I'm a bit jealous, but also glad to see some people loving it where I am really struggling with it as it is becoming "washed" for my taste.
I quite dislike this... "shallow utopia" vibe that is going on where every character is rehashing the same boring theme of "Yes, we were enemies in the past, but we are building a new future together as friends." as they are vibing in the Arcantina or elsewhere. I'm unsure what the goal with this is, because everything now just feels so... safe, washed and "sterile", as if the storywriters are afraid to include anything that made the older world so compelling to me. It's almost like when you get an extra episode at the end of a series with a "5 years later" text and get a small scene of everyone being friends along with their happy endings. (and don't even let me talk about the chatgpt-y texts)
The factions / groups / races that are playable all feel... sort of... boxed into this kind of vibe, as if Blizzard is trying to make sure that players have a safe space in the world. The same is happening to a lot of aspects of the lore from what I've noticed, including magic for example -> now the light, the arcane, nature, void is pretty much the same thing just with different colors, and that is a little sad for me personally.
The only "edge" we have in the story these days that are in the forefront is the current villain and her lackeys, and that's about it. And even that villain is just basically vagueposting for the past 2 expansions, which leaves me rather hollow in wanting to love and enjoy what I am seeing. *insert Homelander in the cinema meme*
When it comes to the campaign storytelling itself, I'm also quite conflicted, because at one hand, I really wanted some kind of elf unification between the Thalassian groups, but... not like this. It was so rushed and so... idk... things were (semi)solved off-screen while my butt was time gated for weeks between 5 quests. I was hoping that their entire conflict would get resolved over the entire expansion in a compelling way, but now it's over like -that-, and I am just sitting here like... "That's it...? Now what?"... The whole thing felt so forced and cliche. Maybe I had too huge expectations in regards to what is possible to tell in game.
Bit of a sad feeling, falling out of love with a game/story you loved for so long. My favorite parts in the game are all kind of gone now: Dragons are not special, scary or magical/mystical anymore in my eyes, the elves are just meh, magic feels flat and with 0 sense to it anymore - just different colored blobs. Afterlife is an absolute mess and basically pointless when living people just walk in and out... like...? Factions are also pointless anymore and conflicts are solved or placed on truce in 2 quests. Other races/groups are left in the dust constantly. This may be a hot take, but the main storyline feels like Blizzard is trying to tell a Netflix show story in an MMORGP and it's just... weird?
Eversong worked for me a lot, because it was a place that I was invested and interested in for a long time. This is something I noticed a lot with people. I suppose it is a good lesson for Blizzard that instead of introducing another new island with another new race, they have to go back and update new places, bring older characters into the spotlight and let us spend time in zones we actually care about.
I hope after Last Titan the world gets a 100 years timeskip or something to allow a bit of a reset where new stories and characters can be written.
Damn, that was longer than expected... I don't normally chime into these topics, but I wanted to scream this into the void I suppose lol. All in all, Midnight is still the best expansion since Legion to me, but sadly, I have also never felt so disheartened by the story than now. In a way, I got what I wanted, but not in a way I was hoping for. ☹️
@Azsharion127968 The entire expansion is riddled with inconsistencies and contradictory quests, not to mention the constant rush that you don't even have five minutes to breathe and figure out what you're actually doing in the story. The consequences are nonexistent; everything has simply reset.
@Azsharion127968 The problem isn't about where the margin of freedom lies for screenwriters, but rather what can be written without distorting the story. When I see a quest that says you can't bring allies through portals, but two quests later armies arrive through portals, It’s bad writing.
